The Parker School board of directors welcomed two new members, John Roth and Carolyn Stewart, in July.
Roth is an attorney with the Robert W. Hastings law firm in Waimea, and is the president of the Young Lawyers Division of the Hawaii State Bar Association. He also is an adjunct professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law where he co-teaches a course on estate planning and he recently taught a business law course at the University of Hawaii in Hilo. He frequently speaks at seminars for lawyers and other professionals on the topics of estate planning and probate administration, and recently co-authored the Hawaii law section of a publication for the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He was president of the Rotary Club of North Hawaii last year.
Stewart has lived in Hawaii since 1990 and in Waimea since 1996. Her son, Jesse, graduated from Parker School last year and her daughter, Maia, is in 10th grade at the school. Stewart is a principal consultant with Marine and Coastal Solutions International, Inc., a Hawaii-based environmental resources management planning firm. She has more than 20 years of experience working in coastal and marine resources management, with an emphasis in polluted runoff control and watershed management. She also works for an independent college counseling company based in Waimea with clients around the world. She is actively involved in several organizations focused on the betterment of the community and the environment.
