Phantom Tollbooth at HPA Pct. 13-14
A cast of 30 seventh and eighth grade students at Hawaii Preparatory Academy will present "The Phantom Tollbooth," at 7 p.m. on Oct.13 and 14 at the school’s Gates Performing Arts Center. The musical performance is free and open to the public.
The show is directed by Middle School teachers Barbara Kopra and Kelly Buscher.
“The Phantom Tollbooth” is a Broadway Junior musical version of Norton Juster’s beloved children’s book, a modern tale about Milo, a boy who must save the princesses Rhyme and Reason and reunite the brother kings who rule the cities of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis. Along the way Milo conquers the Demons and Lethargians, and unites characters and townspeople of the two cities. Aided by a trusty timekeeping dog, Tock, Milo successfully brings harmony to the Land of Wisdom.
The cast features Braden Kojima as Milo, Sidney Vermeulen as Tock, Bodie Freitas as King Azaz, Luke Taniguchi as King Mathemagician, Alivia Nelson and Haley Dow as Princesses Rhyme and Reason, and Teagan Rutkowski, Andrea Cavaliere, and Lokelani Ching as the Three Demons.
The cast also includes Leia Acidera, Colby Camero, Rae Cardosa, Angela Castile-Krasuski, Melia Chobany, Lili Coryell, Erin Evans, Elyse Fujioka, Erika Horton, Kako Ito, Elizabeth Jim, Ava Jean Johnston, Holly Kaapu, Ben Murray, Chloe Nairne, Ikena Nakoa, Kristen Nielsen, Rachel O’Toole, Amber Rogers, Reece Ryan, and Iolome Tufaga.
