- About a dozen people attended the Memorial Day program at the heiau information center by the Marine Corps League, Camp Tarawa Detachment 1255. Members Jim Browne and Kathy Painton gave a history of Hawaii during World War II and discussed the Second and Fifth Marine Division activities at Camp Tarawa as they trained for invasions of Iwo Jima, Tinian and Saipan.
