WAIMEA CONSORT CHORAL CONCERTS: 7 p.m., Friday, May 1, James Walker Hall at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau; and 3 p.m., Sunday, May 3, Davies Memorial Chapel at HPA in Waimea. The public is invited to attend two free concerts featuring music from the 16th, 20th and 21st centuries, very different time periods in a semi-eclectic mix of works.

GET INVOLVED IN NORTH HAWAII BLUE ZONES PROJECT: Noon, Saturday, May 2, Honokaa High Cafeteria. This third North Hawaii community meeting will be held for Honokaa residents to learn about the community’s commitment to make healthier choices easier. The well-being initiative uses best practices from successful Blue Zone areas around the world where people live vibrant, active lives. Come talk-story and learn about various committees and volunteer opportunities.

BIG ISLAND BITES GOLF TOURNAMENT: 10 a.m., Sunday, May 3, Hapuna Golf Course. During the four-person, shot-gun scramble event, several Hawaii Island restaurants will serve up bite-sized dishes at various hole locations and offer specialty drink stations throughout the course. Tournament proceeds will be donated to Kona-Kohala Chef’s Association at Hawaii Community College Palamanui, the Mauna Kea Forest Restoration Project and Make-a-Wish Foundation Hawaii. SPECIAL LOCATION – WAIMEA COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TOWN MEETING: 5:15 p.m., Thursday, May 7, HPA Energy Lab. Presentations will spotlight sustainability, energy alternatives, zero waste and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) programs in our community. Attendees are asked to enter the school through the more northern gate and parking will be provided near the Gates Performing Arts Theatre. A short uphill walk and a van shuttle will be provided. Dues are suggested for $15 per person or $25 per family.

ANNUAL VISITOR INDUSTRY CHARITY WALK: Saturday, May 9, start and finish at The Shops at Mauna Lani. Registration for runners is between 5:45 and 6:30 a.m. with a 6:30 a.m. starting time. Walkers registration is from 5:45 to 8 a.m. with a 7 a.m. start time. The 3.5-mile walk/run will raise money for Hawaii Island charities. All ages may participate with children accompanied by an adult. All walked must have a minimum $35 donation. No pets may participate. NORTH HAWAII INNOVATORS’ FAIR: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 9, Kanu o ka ‘Aina Campus. A new collaboration involving community schools and other partners including Hawaii Wildlife Center, Hawaii Island Workforce Office and Tutu’s House/Earl’s Garage. The public event is free.

MOTHERS’ DAY TEA, FASHION SHOW & HAT CONTEST: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, May 9, St. James’ Thrift Store and Boutique. Tickets are $30 per person, with 100% of the proceeds going to Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter and Child and Family Services. Seating is limited. For details, call Laurie Rosa at 885-7647.
