FREE INCOME TAX PREPARATION: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Final day Friday, April 10 at Waimea Community Center. Provided for low to moderate income residents and seniors by AARP Foundation Tax-Aide in conjunction with the IRS and community volunteers. Appointments are recommended by calling 885-4722 or 388-6645. Bring tax documents including social security cards, photo ID, etc. If unsure, ask about what to bring when making appointment.

WAIMEA OUTDOOR CIRCLE’S ANNUAL SPRING PLANT SALE: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 11 at Ulu La’au Waimea Nature Park, behind Canada France Hawaii Telescope. Native plants and trees, fruit trees, herbs and vegetable starts, along with orchids, ornamentals and more will be for sale, as well as crafts, baked goods and ono food by Kuikku Okazuya Food Truck from Kealakekua. PERSONAL CAREGIVER TRAINING: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays, April 11 through May 16 at North Hawaii Education and Research Center (NHERC) in Honokaa. “TRADITIONS & FAMILY VALUES: A BLUEPRINT FOR OUR COMMUNITY”: 3 p.m., Sunday, April 12 in NHERC Conference Room in Honokaa. A free public presentation of the documentary film recording memories, oral histories and insights of some 15 long-time residents of the Pa’auilo Mauka/Kalopa community. NEXTERA ENERGY & HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC OPEN HOUSE: 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 14 at HPA Village Campus Dining Hall. The open house for Hawaii residents will introduce the Florida-based company that now owns HEI. Input is welcomed.

WORKSHOP FOR PERSONAL GROWTH: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at There’s No Place Like OM Yoga Studio in Waimea. Entitled “We are the Gita,” writer and yogini Gillian Culff will lead a day of writing, reflecting and discussing ways of responding to life’s challenges, inspired by the ancient Indian text, the Bhagavad Gita, using tools such as breathwork and meditation.
