Held at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea, the weekend is a fundraiser to provide scholarships for school-age children of Parker Ranch employees. Family activities begin on Saturday at noon with rodeo events including team roping, double mugging, Po’o Wai u, bull riding, junior bull riding, Wahine barrel racing, Wahine steer un-decorating and ribbon roping. The century team roping competition — which requires one team member over the age of 50 and combined ages of more than 100 — is a highlight of the weekend. The crowd also cheers on keiki barrel racing for participants 12 and under, and mutton busting also known as keiki sheep riding. On Sunday, The Round-Up Club, in partnership with Parker Ranch, will host a live horse auction. Registration opens at 9 a.m. and viewing of the horses begins with the auction to follow the Sunday morning Rodeo slack. Non-riders can observe the fast pace of a Ranch horse auction. A gate ticket is required to attend the auction. Sunday’s rodeo action begins again at high noon with more activities throughout the afternoon. Food and refreshments are available both days with events until 5 p.m. Tickets are $7 per person in advance available at the Parker Ranch Store at the Parker Ranch Center or at the Parker Ranch Headquarters in Waimea, or $8 at the gate on rodeo days.
